David Harper Antiques TV!
Великобритания
Добавлен 19 янв 2009
You might know me from BBC TV antiques shows like 'Antiques Road Trip’ Bargain Hunt' 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is' and 'Flog It'
Well, I still do work for the BBC making these programmes, but here is my David Harper Antiques TV Channel especially for RUclips
I feature big players in the world of antiques, real experts in their fields, auctioneers, antiques centres and antiques fairs. Also, I love historical stories. Over the decades of antiques dealing, I’ve discovered countless fascinating and little-known stories connected to antiques (so much so I’ve written two history books)
So, you’ll find funny, entertaining or educational historical films inextricably linked into my antiques videos!
I’m always keen to hear from people in the antiques business, or private collectors with great stores to tell…do get in touch.
Thank you and thanks for watching

It took 2 minutes to complete the task and a lot of skill too, as well as hard work! Volume up to get the full effect #Steam engine working #what is steam engine #how does a locomotives work #Steam roller #steam engine...

Chinese Antique Vases: Turn them into Lamps?

At Charlie Wallrock’s (Wick Antiques) warehouse, we discuss a pair of 19th century Chinese Famille Rose vases, which had obviously been exported to Paris when new and mounted in ornamental and magnificent (it has to be said) ormolu bronze. So, you have a great mix of Eastern and Western design and influences complimenting one another perfectly in a pair of monumental antique Chinese vases…Charl...

How to Clean Ivory?
Просмотров 24819 часов назад
All you need is a Toothpaste, hot water, a toothbrush and a dry cloth. This is a tried and tested way of cleaning ivory. I’ve done it hundreds of times. It’s cheap and easy to do and it works wonderfully. Let me know how it works for you? You may know that most ivory is now illegal to sell, or to buy, but it’s not illegal to own. So, if you already have a piece of ivory and it’s dirty, then thi...

I’m at Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair filming for my RUclips Channel and I just had to buy this massive Africa wooden sculpture. It’s about 7ft tall and is likely a fertility symbol. I’ll research it some more and maybe make a follow up video. I’ll probably put the piece in my garden. Let me know what yiu think of her, him, it? HEMSWELL ANTIQUES CENTRES new CLASSIC CAR SHOW!
Love it, David! I have an African sculpture that’s male which I want to use for the newel post in my house.
Brilliant idea
Bowler hats are the original ball caps
i would have said 125 POUNDS , but need to think of the room for the negotiation !
Good thinking!
Give em the cash tight ass...they got it.😂
What is the proof that the tusk are old that much and how can we know and test if it was that much old ?
Brilliant deductions there ladies! So close!
They were good!
I took it for a silent butler until the seat lifted. The wide back would be a good place to hang a jacket, and shoes etc would go underneath. May have been re-rushed at least once. I figured 1900-ish and 125.
That would be a good use though!
I have a whales tooth depicting on one side hms amphitrite, the sister ship of hms trincommolee, and on the other side, the Josepha, a slave trader capture off Brazil
What a wonderful object
Would you like photographs @@DavidHarperAntiquesTV
Would like photographs
If it was made in the 19th or 20th century then it's not antique, is it?
She is a beauty. I love it.
They're lovely, but the cost of overhaul is prohibitive
That's a steam tractor! In this case, a road engine since the wheels have flat rubber on them. I've seen them in action before. Heard them too. Driving one is a pretty good trick.
650 was my guess I’ve seen them before
The more I look at it, the more I want it!
Pimp My Ride - I thought £850 - Wayne might get that if the customer didn't have to grovel on the floor to look at it! (also don't tell them you have another 6 out the back!).
all part of the fun!
That's why i love Antiques, it's learning about history ...and so many stories !
It’s what it’s all about…those that enjoy that side of it, make money because they easily become expert!
Especially those 'bird' things.
Wally Birds are worth fortunes!
@@DavidHarperAntiquesTV Yes, I remember, insane amounts!
@@DavidHarperAntiquesTV Hello David, it's Mike again. Please could you advise anything about my set of FIFTEEN 1777 antique forks. I've read about fakes, all having Hallmarks in the same position on each piece. Mine are definitely genuine, and believe the pattern on them is known as 'Double Thread and Drop'. As far as I can tell, this is a very rare pattern...
@@michaellooney1089 Lots of Google searching needed I’m afraid. You’ll find the maker etc and then similar for sale…research is part of the fun !
@@DavidHarperAntiquesTV These are seriously rare, I doubt even if anyone's heard of them. I used to own the Large book on Silver & Hallmarks by Ian Pickford, but misplaced it, and other books. I think one was by John Luddington? They were very interesting!
You can spot Martin brothers from a mile away!
So interesting, going to look through my box now
What kind of vinegar
Some sort of historic art but without seeing the back I couldn't guess at the age. I do read some Italian but would need it in front of me, and had no prayer without the information. I've seen the donkey carts, or pictures of same. They sell little mineratures to tourists to take home. I figured 525. Closer than the filmed contestant but still a ways off. You could probably get that on the USA east coast between Boston and Philadelphia - lots of Sicilian immigrants fetched up here.
Fascinating thing. First one I’ve ever seen!
Thanks for sharing David!
Some great cars there David 👍😊👍
I looked this up because I have a brass of the ship Constitution. It's old, my parents had it longer than they had me, and I'm in my 60s. Wish me luck, can't wait to see her shine! 🌹⚓
Good luck!
My mother bought a house from David Harper. Quality work
11:13 best one !
Agreed.
You know your cars david i thought i was watching a car enthusiasts channel for second . Maybe a secondary job for you if you ever get time 😂👍
1863 Appears to be a year of rarity for certain mintage's of coin from pennies through to solid Gold Sovereigns for example below. 1863, Queen Victoria Gold Sovereign standard Gold = £ 500 to £1200, 1863, Queen Victoria Gold Sovereign with Rothschilds Gold Burrs and swarf - Die 22 #827 = £14000 to £27000,
The point about a reproduction not having raised paint is incorrect. There are printing methods where a printer replicates the layers of paint as well.
Got a 1874 .....3pence...anyone interested?
At least a few of them had the steering wheel on the proper side.
There’s always a few of them! My brother (Retro Classic Cars, North Yorkshire) sells most of them in the UK!
Fun to see that beautiful Chevy represent the best of the states!
Shame my two classic cars were not there.
I had my eyes tested recently so I didn't need to go to Barnard castle. Looks like it was a great day out with some beautiful motors.
Most toothpastes have Hydrogen Peroxide in them, that also is an exceptional whitener and won't hurt Ivory, Best to you David..!
So what's it called? Can't hear
Martin Brothers
I recognized that toad, but couldn't remember the name. (not a pottie and never have been.) I've heard of Martin Brothers, but their work was only exported here in someone's personal baggage. They made some absolutely mad birds, but I've never seen a frog before.
The mad birds can sell for over £100,000!
The jeep at the beginning was my dream car before I went to uni. No speed to speak of, but everything folds down or in, and it came with a winch. Drove through anything and had a motor you could wrench on it you knew how. The X-series jag would have been the daily driver.(LOL) WHen it was running anyway, Jags being what they were.
Best value for money Jag right now…XK8. Modern and classic!
He’s very cute!
I’m back! Do you know whether this would work with copper too? And/ or any other metals other than brass
I presume so since brass is an alloy containing copper and zinc
Doesn’t work on copper!!
I've realized that I've been polishing brass the wrong, way, (Well, only tried it on 2 pieces.) but I still prefer the century and a half year old patina.
Love it,
Is she still in Commission? She is flying the union flag from the jackstaff and Ensign at the stern ,
I’m not sure, but the website will have lots of info…link in video description. Thanks for watching
What a beautiful piece, beautiful garden too.
Can you show us a proof for selling this cars?
🥰 It looks fantastic in your garden David! Obviously your wife approved? (🇨🇦)
She does although she’s a little envious!
Quite frankly, so am I David!🤣
😍Love it David! It will look fab in your garden or in your home,... as long as your wife would permit it to be there. LoL. Just curious, how did you get at home? (🇨🇦)
Just about got it in the car with front seat folded!
Technically not a full set as the Subs from that era should have a mini metal anchor too.
Good info, thank you
Great video! Thanks for making it. How abrasive is the baking soda? Will adding vinegar to it make it more abrasive? Can this method be used on marble busts?
It’s not very abrasive and yes works well on marble busts…not sure about the vinegar…never tried that
can you do a video about identifying old brass, and also wether this mix effects other materials or wether it’s safe on wood, iron etc etc
😮😊
